About

Eva Slabá (*1993 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia) is permanently based in Prague, Czech Republic. She is an arts professional with experience in independent curating and writing, focusing mainly on contemporary art practices.

Eva graduated from the MA programme Theory and History of Modern and Contemporary Art at UMPRUM (University of Applied Arts in Prague). In her thesis, which she wrote under the tutelage of Professor Karel Císař, Ph.D., she explored the various temporal possibilities of contemporary art. During this period, she underwent two internships – at the Studio of Intermedia Art (led by Dominik Gajarský and Michal Pěchouček) and Painting Studio (led by Jiří Černický and Michal Novotný). This allowed her to question artistic practices from a closer perspective, which was crucial for her own future praxis. At the same time she had the opportunity to curate Gallery NIKA for a period of one year, where nine exhibitions were held.

She completed her Bachelor's degree at Charles University in Prague, Department of Aesthetics, working on conceptual art and its aesthetic value. This was broadened by a year at the School of Art, History and Philosophy at the University of Sussex in Brighton, where she focused on 20th century European philosophy and Paul Ricoeur's interpretation of metaphor.

Previous experience in the art world also includes communication, production and management in a variety of environments, including working with galleries, public institutions, universities and art fairs (ARCO Lisboa 2022, Art Brussels 2023, Artissima 2023, Stage Bregenz 2024, ARCO Madrid 2024, Art Central Hong Kong 2024, Art Brussels 2024).
